Nokia launches global Ovi site and Sync on Ovi
News by Ricky Cadden on Thursday August 28, 2008.
Nokia today launched its global Ovi.com website, bringing all of Nokia's web services under one brand. From the Ovi.com homepage, you can easily get to Nokia Maps, N-Gage, Share on Ovi, and Files on Ovi. A new service was also launched, Sync on Ovi.
The SyncML based Sync on Ovi service, available for both S60 and S40-powered Nokia cell phones, allows you to easily sync your contacts, appointments, and notes to your Nokia account. This allows you to easily edit your contacts or calendar entries from the convenience of your web browser, and then copy those changes back to your phone. The system can also be used to keep two phones in sync, such as a user's personal and work cell phones. Currently this synchronization process is manual, meaning you must initiate it from your handset.
Sync on Ovi is free to use, though it does make use of your phone's data connection.
