iPhone Tethering Plan Coming to AT&T?

From MobileMag (read the whole thing over there):

I'll take this report with a huge bucket of salt, but it seems that Steve Jobs and crew are working on a deal with AT&T that would finally allow for legitimate tethering on the iPhone 3G....

Naturally, if AT&T and Apple can come to terms with a tethering plan, it will come at a premium over the regular $30 iPhone 3G data plan, just like how AT&T does with their BlackBerry devices.

Lack of a real tethering solution was the #1 reason I picked the Moto q9h over the iPhone.  All the iPhone tethering hacks I've seen have just been SOCKS proxies, which is okay for web browsing, but doesn't really cut it for anything more complex than that.

Yep. There were three reasons I didn't buy the original iPhone:

  1. No third party software
  2. No 3G
  3. No tethering ability

So they've got #1 and #2 nailed... I do hope they figure out #3.
