Two Huddlers win BlackBerry Storms in SF First Touch Storm Grab

Thanks to Boy Genius, Deej and I got to go down toward the Ferry Building in San Francisco and try our luck at winning brand new BlackBerry Storms in the First Touch Storm Grab.

The way it works is that they blow 3 kinds of tickets around in the booth (there are red ones, black ones, and white ones).  If you get 7 of the black ones with the Storm pictured, then you win a Storm.  If you get 6 of the "red ones" (which really means black with a red border), you can win a free Jabra headset.  If you get white ones...you don't win anything, sadly.

They made it a little too easy because the tickets stick to the ceiling and the walls, but they were already saying that in the next stops (Chicago is next) that they're not going to allow contestants to use the ceiling or the walls. Oh well, in the mean time we'll be psyched about our new Storms!

A few suggestions for all you in other cities...try pining the tickets against your body.  It's pretty hard grabbing them out of the air....also, make sure you're grabbing at stuff above your knees.  Anything below that is against the rules.

Here are some pics and a video from the event:

We waited in line for about an hour watching folks win (and a few miss out)...finally it was our turn.  Deej stepped up first.

Luckily, he came out victorious!  Then it was my turn...I have to admit, I was a little nervous.  Most people were walking away winners but that meant the pressure was really on...no one wanted to be "that guy who lost."

I put on the safety goggles, took off my shoes, and stepped in the chamber.

And I won too!  Woohoo!

Anyone know if the Storm is going to have Visual Voicemail like the iPhone does? Or at least an app to do something similar? That has been the feature that is most exciting to me...

We actually won't get them until they're availalbe to the public, so they should ship out in the next few weeks I hope. It's just cool because I was actually planning on buying one anyway. I'll keep everyone posted...

Awwwwww! I'm jelous as hell. I totally want one, but won't be able to get one because of the undoubtedly steep price tag. Anyway, congrats on the win. I wish I could have been there to win one, too.

I got Storm'd this morning, nice phone!  It does have visual voice mail preloaded, though you have to activate it and I think it's $3/mo.  Not worth it for me, but it is there.
