Deactivate z525a PTT button on the side??

Anyone know how to deactivate the PTT button on the side of the SE z5252a? This has to be one of the most annoying design flaws I've encountered in a device (always gets deperessed when floating around my pocket).

Try this:

Go to settings, then phone settings, then extra settings, click "side keylock", and click save.

Ya, tried that, doesn't work, you still get prompted "if you'd like to initialize".

I think I"M out of luck on this one. I've heard of some pretty sorry soultions out there, such as physically ripping the buttton out.

PTT buttons annoy the hell out of me.  My old Sanyo did the same thing, as does Amanda's Blackberry.

90% of people don't use the things, ever, but we all have to put up with 'em.

Does anyone actualy use PTT these days? Especially with the advent of unlimited minute plans? If anyone uses it for any practical purpose, I'd be curious what that is. Being that nextel went into the crapper, I imagine there isn't much use anymore these days.

I think I've seen a few people in professional contexts using PTT much like they'd use a walkie-talkie.

If you're working in the sort of situation where it'd be helpful to carry both devices, I can see the appeal of trying to combine them.  Especially since a phone has much better range than a walkie-talkie.

But it's a small market.  PTT buttons really ought to do something else by default, and only trigger PTT after being specifically configured to do so.
