Thread Starter

Sprint customers can now acquire a Sanyo Katana Eclipse for $99.99 (after rebates) and a two year contract. Seems like kind of a ripoff to me. Not enough phone for the price. More info

Features:

  • 1.3 Megapixel camera
  • A2DP Bluetooth
  • MicroSD support
  • 2.5mm headset
  • EV-DO data
  • built-in MP3 player
  • GPS
  • Sprint Mobile E-mail

At first glance...that phone looks like a total piece of crap.  Why you'd even bother with EVDO data on something like that, I'll never know.

Heh... it reminds me of the Audiovox CDM-9900, which I really miss :)

At least it has some controls on the front, which will make it more useful as a music player.  That is of course totally whiped out by the INconvenience of having a 2.5mm jack.  I'm sorry, but to me a 3.5mm jack for stereo earphones that don't require the pain of an adpater is much more useful than a 2.5mm jack for wired headsets.

Bluetooth headsets for talking are cheap and prevelant enough now that we don't really need a 2.5mm jack, especially with almost all phones (including $20 prepaid phones) having speakerphone capabilities.  A2DP is nice, but Bluetooth stereo headsets are still too bulky and cumbersome and usually don't sound as good as a wired stero earbud set.

Woof that's ugly. But, I guess there's a phone out there for everyone. I'm sure it'll sell ok.

Yeah, it's definitely not the sleekest looking phone...but I suppose for folks who are looking for function over fashion, it'll do okay.  But I'm sure beauty is in the eye of the beholder as well.

My mother always taught me to say at least one nice thing. I guess that speaker on the front is a cool idea.
