Palm OS vs Windows Mobile?

Thread Starter

I'm getting ready to get a new phone, and if i don't go the iPhone route, I'm thinking of getting another Palm (I used to have a Treo 700w).

What I'm looking for is a compelling reason to stay with Windows Mobile. I really want to go to Palm OS since the version I ran on the 700w was abismal (or it was the hardware or both).

Is Palm OS considered "better" than Windows Mobile? If I went Palm OS, I'd probably get the Treo 755p through Verizon.

Thanks

I would strongly, strongly advise against getting a new Palm OS these days. The current iteration of the Palm OS is so long in the tooth that it has almost reached the point of being unusable. Palm is working on a new Linux-based version, due in 2009. When (if) it comes out, it should inject a lot of new life into the platform.

Meanwhile, I'd either look at Windows Mobile (there are a lot of good WinMo phones not from Palm, such as the HTC Touch series), or just bite the bullet and get an iPhone. :-)
