Suggestions on cleaning LG Shine?

Eh....so I did something stupid this weekend.  I was getting out of the car and I had a bottle of Vitamin Water.  Unfortunately, the bottle cap was not on very tightly.  To make a (not very) long story short, loose cap in bag = Vitamin Water in bag = slightly damp phone. 

 

I've had phones drown before and on the whole, this was really pretty mild.  I dried it off as best I could and the outside isn't sticky anymore.  But the sliding bit (namely the part between the face and the keypad) is still sticking a little.  Any recommendations on cleaning it up?

Maybe you could try taking a lightly dampened thin piece of paper towel and the sliding it in between the two (with a back and forth motion) to try and get the stickiness to go away?

I'll give that a try when I get home tonight.  I thought I'd give it a go with a piece of tissue but that just fell apart.  Thanks!

 

Poor little phone....you'd think I'd know better.

Well...the saga of my phone continues (not really).  The slider bit is improved but there's still more resistence than there used to be.  The real issue now is that I think somehow the "unfortunate incident" took it's toll on my battery or something....the thing just won't hold much charge anymore.  I can barely get through a day without getting the blinking "low battery" symbol (and it happens even more quickly if I use my phone at all, of course). 

 

Is it worth trying a new battery?  Or.....I don't know.  I guess I could muddle through with this one for a while until I get so sick of it that I break down and get something new.

It's certainly worth a shot if you don't want to spend money on getting a whole new phone.

See if you can grab one cheap on eBay... worth a shot and a third-party battery shipped will probably be around ten bucks shipped.  And only 1% or so of the shady-branded batteries every explode and kill their owners :)  Actually I have bought third-party batteries off eBay for years and never had a problem.  Oftentimes that's the only place to easily find high-capapcity batteries.

Hahah...cool.  Yeah, I'll give that a try.  And if I never show up here again...you can assume that I was in the 1%.

Okay...well...it's been more than a month, but I finally got off my lazy tail feathers and got a new battery.  AND!  It didn't explode.  :-)

 

I'm happy to report that this particular LG Shine is performing quite well again.  But I am having this weird thing where my Bluetooth just doesn't want to stay connected....not sure what that's about.
